THE CALL FROM THE TERRACE – 2023
The terrace, a place invented and normalised for strictly human activities, has been abandoned, forgotten and left to its own fate. Emancipated from the hands of men, the terrace is today a place where time and space are interdependent, linking the process of degradation with the memory of particular human histories.
By entering this place once loved by men, the visitor can immediately feel time at work on the walls, the floors and ceilings. The ruin is alive and it is in dialogue with it that the show “the call from the terrace” was produced. The vegetation has entered in places participating in the formation of the ruin.
It is at this intersection between the human, the natural and the temporal that the actors sketch out a history of possibilities.
The director Marcelino Valiente has taken over an old tavern in a state of ruin for his performance « The call from the terrace ». The text he wrote, in a poetic style, recounts the encounters, games and dreams of the tavern’s customers. Watching from the park, the spectator witnesses the deliquescence of the building, which becomes for a moment the receptacle of human tragedy.
Using voice, movement, music, space and video, « The call from the terrace » invites you on a hypnotic journey unveiling and recombining a collective memory.
