SAY IT NOW ! – 2015

SAY IT NOW! tells the story of Sami, a youngster on a journey through a labyrinth of fear and loneliness.

In Romania, many parents are forced to find work abroad and leave their children in the care of members of their extended family (often, the children’s grandparents). Sami is one of those children. In order to protect himself from his feelings of insecurity and danger, he builds and retreats into an imaginary world that he calls « the fence ». Sami’s parents witness their son’s behaviour, and struggle with their sense of helplessness as they try to understand him and take care of him at all costs.

The script of SAY IT NOW! was developed from stories and experiences shared by young people in the course of a series of workshops for teenagers led by Marcelino Valiente at the National Theatre, Timisoara, Romania, in 2015.
